Where is Clermont County GIS? That’s an excellent question. That’s not to say that we don’t know where it is, but it’s a good question because hopefully you’ve realized that you can get to Clermont County’s GIS via several different offices and on the internet. Where isn’t Clermont County GIS?
In the beginning, (no, not that beginning) Clermont County leaders decided that the best way to make their geographic information system successful was by ditching the concept of information silos and have a distributed system - not just the computer part, but the staffing part as well. This was the most efficient way to provide valuable tools and services to those needing information at their fingertips. Thus, the County Auditor and Board of Commissioners hired GIS staff in both offices to work together. Since that time we have fine tuned the distribution of tools and information and have evolved into the network of qualified GIS staff throughout many county offices. For clarification, the office we refer to as the “Clermont County GIS” office is comprised of staff whose jobs are to assure that the whole system is maintained and running smoothly, as well as coordinating the integration of information from disparate sources, but our customers can access the GIS tools and information via many offices and even the internet.
The following offices employ highly qualified staff working behind the scenes to maintain our database, create new layers, develop new tools, or to provide customized maps.
